Creating
a New Account
The first step in creating an account is go to http://www.freewebpage.org/cgi-bin/home/signup.
Once there, you will see a list possible categories to place your
site in along with descriptions of each category. Find the category
that you like best and select it from the drop down list at the
end of the page:
![[Category Selection Example]](images/faq/category.gif)
Next you will be taken to the actual sign-up page. You first
need to read over the rules and terms of agreement and if you agree
to these rules, check the "I Agree" box and proceed to fill out
the short form. The first field in the form will ask you for
the member name you want. Choose carefully as this name will
be used both in the address of your website as well
as in your login. In the next field you will be asked
for an email address. Please enter a valid email address as
your password and additional instructions will be mailed to it. There
are a few more questions that follow. The ones with the red
asterisk are mandatory and must be filled out. Once you
have fully filled out all these fields, click the submit button
to continue.

If everything is ok, you will be transported to the confirmation
page. Here you should see a box confirming your username,
the location of your website, and the location of the file manager. If,
however, there were mistakes and/or conflicts, you will receive
an error page instead. On it will be a brief descripction of
what you did wrong. To correct it, simply click your
browser's back button, correct your information, and retry.

receive a message containing your username and password along with
the location for the file manager and additional instructions. If
you do not receive this email right away, just wait a
little while longer and check again. However, if you still
don't get the email in one or two days, contact us right away
so we can get you up and running.
To log into your account, simply follow the instructions in
the welcome email. Below is a snapshot of the login page and

in, you can always change your viewing preferences.
- Viewing
by All Types or not selecting any viewing preference to view will show every
file of every type in the current directory.
- Viewing
Html Files will show only files with the file extentions
.htm or .html.
- Viewing
by Image Files will display any file with a .gif,
.jpg or .jpeg extension.
- Viewing
by Other Files will display any other allowed
file types that are not html or image files.
Remember
My Information -
Checking this item will set a cookie with your account name and
settings so you do not have to enter them again when returning
to the site at a later date. This is convenient if you are
using your home computer and don't need too much security. However,
if you are using a public computer where others can gain access,
do not check this box.
